About Me

Hi there! I’m Ilinca and my passions are teaching, creating teaching resources, and helping children discover how fun learning can be. I have been a kindergarten teacher for more than six years. I’m 29 and I live in the cold capital of Finland, Helsinki.

To be honest, I have always wanted to teach, but not necessarily kindergarten. I had my first bachelor degree in English and Finnish and my master degree in British Cultural Studies. Back then I wanted to teach English in primary or secondary school. It was by luck that I ended up working in a kindergarten, and now I wouldn’t change it for anything in the world!

I love getting my children enthusiastic about learning, coming up with fun craft ideas, hands-on activities, teaching them English using effective and engaging music, stories, and props.

After six years of teaching, I feel like I have a lot of creative ideas to share with my co-workers and friends, but it hasn’t always been like that. When I first started teaching, I felt a bit overwhelmed…I needed to get more organized and learn a lot in a short time. I couldn’t have managed without Alina, my dear colleague and friend, and all the teachers and moms who had blogs and sites. I’m truly thankful for that and I hope that I can help someone else by writing this blog.

Here are some of my favourite things:

Creating fun activities for kids
Biking

Climbing

Being silly

Playing board games
Reading
